The Quebec Saints broke through for their first victory of the 2009 OAFL Division 2 season over a combined 'BlueHawks' team at Humber North, Toronto.

The initial OAFL Division 2 Round was scheduled to see the Saints v Roos and Blues v Hawks, unfortunately the Roos were unable to field a side and there were also doubts over the Blues/Hawks game so after some quick changes a Quebec Saints v 'BlueHawks' match was scheduled with the Saints welcoming their regular London AFC players into the squad along with some Roo's Rookies.
The BlueHawks got the jump on the Saints, winning the first two centre clearances and first two inside 50's. A goal down in the opening minutes caretaker coach Luke Anderson moved himself into the ruck with immediate effect. Anderson was able to give his talented on-ball brigade first use of the ball, Stark, Vawser and Ferrari feeding the Saints forward line. Shane Shearer kicked his first career goal and when Saint forward Corey Bowen had slotted through his first the Saints train was on the move. 8 points up heading into the second quarter the Bleu and Blanc never looked like stopping. Constantly winning the battles across the ground with Jason Hodgson, Mark Melo and Mike Karas suffocating the BlueHawks forwards. The Saints heading into half-time 20 points up.The BlueHawks under the guidance of Marty Walter responded after half time. Anderson who had been controlling the ruck was well beaten in the third, the Saints losing their grip on the game as some questionable umpiring decisions let the BlueHawks back into the game. With some big marks and goals from their tall Irish timber down forward the BlueHawks had slipped in front by 3 qtr time by a single point.

Leaving the team as they were, making a small change in the ruck the Saints headed into the last quarter with the firm belief that this would be their day. Stark and Vawser again led from the front - driving the ball forward to Corey Bowen who had destroyed his opponent all day, Corey kicking 5 for the afternoon the Saints running over the top of the BlueHawks adding 4.2 to 0.1 in the last to post a hard fought 24 point victory.
