Bombers secure double chance with 29 point win over Saints

The Bombers took the first step in winning back to back titles securing the double chance in the finals with a 29 point victory over the Saints.

With nothing short of a win needed the Saints entered the game without Anthony Williams. However with prized new on-baller in the line up Carl Ferrari the Saints hit the first quarter with their tails up. A fast paced tempo, the skill level of the game was far superior of that early in the season as all players had lifted their game. An old fashioned shoot-out both sides traded shots, going goal for goal. ECAFL rookie Chris Theis kicking the first for the game for the Bombers but it was quickly replied to from #1 pick Carl Ferrari for the Saints. On-ball magicians Shaughnessy and Stark added goals for their sides, a late goal to Bomber Chris Theis giving the red and black army a 6 point edge at quarter time.

The Saints revved up by newly appointed playing coach Fred Frost came out in the second all guns blazing. Ronan Shaughnessy added 3 and Pat Considine was dominating across half forward as the Saints turned the momentum of the game, cruised into half time 6 points up and unlucky not to be further in front.

The Bombers proved why they are top of the table slamming home three quick second half goals. The Saints struggling to get the ball into their attacking half. Ben Vawser, James-Robert Theis, Veljko and Chris Theis all added majors as the Bombers kept the Saints scoreless and skipped away to a 28 point lead.

The Saints regrouped in the last, threatening to work themselves back into the game the 5 goal margin simply to great. A goal to Fred Frost fuelled a flicker of hope that was swiftly snuffed out by Cam Stark's 3rd which put the final nail in the coffin. The Bombers running away 29 point victors and on the verge of a second title.
