What a wonderful effort achieved this weekend by everyone involved with the Quebec Saints. Even though we had our first loss we still managed to show the skill improvement over the last 4-5 weeks. The Hawks played their senior team and after the first game they still had more run than us. I guess you see the work for so many years has paid off for the Hawks and the high level of skill which was great for us to watch. The Quebec boys stood to the challenge and showed great efforts during the day. Best on Ground Tim played a wonderful game and showed his ability to get to the ball, i am sure over the next weeks we will see big things from Tim. Jean another first gamer showed amazing skill first time up and his skill and hands in gaining the ball really proved an asset to us. Third went to another first gamer in Gabriel. Gab showed us the effort he has put in over the last few months and really put in some great plays through the backline. To the rest of the team you made it very hard to come up with the top three. You are all making great headway towards a successful team in Montreal. So the game didn’t play as we would have expected but really it was a win for us. The Hawks were fast and the skill level high. We found ourselves waiting back many times and not going the hard ball, this is one area we need to develop over the next month towards next year. Some areas where we grew on were being able to handle the ball better. Our marks and kicks have improved 100%. Plus the added factor as I said that the Hawks played their senior team. Another part that we have to improve on is the ability to control the ball when we have the possession. We still give up the ball very easily via poor handballs and erratic kicking. I would also say if we had our full team in that the result would have been closer.Big thanks to Sam and Fred for your help in on field coaching, thanks for your support. Also the Aussie boys and Swans who assisted with filling in on the ground. You all put in 100% on the ground and the help for the Quebec boys was well earned.Big thanks to the Swans for their efforts and assistance on the day. I guess the partnership which has only just been announced is already well in swing. From the management to the coaching staff in Ottawa you have really welcomed us into the club with open arms. We hope that the Saints can offer you the same in return with a big effort next year and the wish for Swans in the ones and Saints in the two's premiers 2009.So big congratulations to all for a wonderful football day and looking forward to next week and the exhibition game in Ottawa on Saturday
