SAINTS PREVAIL IN WET CONDITIONS ON THE BACK OF MARGO LEGAULT'S 4 GOALS

Official Match Report
ECAFL Round 6, July 26th 2009

With top spot settled the focus on Parc Jarry's round six match surrounded the battle at the top of the goal kicking table. With Anthony Williams' (14 ECAFL goals so far) injury their were four contenders for the award. Bomber Cam Stark (18), James-Robert Theis (15), Ben Vawser (11) and Saint Ronan Shaughnessy (13). In rainy conditions both teams had poor turn outs and Margo Legault and Dani Anderson made their debuts in the men's league.

The greasy conditions and light numbers made scoring difficult but after a tight first term the Bombers slipped away to a 22 point half-time lead. The Saints worked their way back into the match in the third. Shaughnessy and Frost leading the way. Back to within 12 points heading into the last quarter an injury to Vincent Pottier was a massive blow for the Saints. It made Margo Legault the focal point up forward, her three goals along with two from sidekick Shaughnessy snatching an unlikely last minute for the Montreal Saints.

Montreal Saints 1.2   2.4   5.5   10.6   (66)
